Who we are
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is Germany’s national research and technology center for aeronautics and space, energy, transport, security and defence. Within DLR, the Institute of Maritime Technologies and Propulsion Systems develops technologies that help the maritime sector make confident investment decisions and accelerate the transition to low-emission waterborne transport.
Our role in ESY
The institute brings broad maritime systems expertise to the EcoShipYard project. In Work Package 3, DLR focuses on process chain analysis, environmental assessment and the identification of improvement potential in shipyard operations.
Our contribution
We contribute to ESY’s ambition of providing shipyards with practical tools to continuously monitor and assess their environmental performance. The aim is to support data-driven production planning and show how environmental performance can be treated as a design parameter from the earliest stages of shipbuilding.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program under grant agreement no. 101138730. UK participation in EcoShipYard Project is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the UK government’s Horizon Europe guarantee [grant-number 10120898].
