ESY Project’s 2nd General Assembly meeting in Kiel,Germany

CATEGORY:

On December 11–12, 2024, the ESY project team convened in Kiel for its 2nd General Assembly meeting. This milestone event brought together project partners and stakeholders to review progress, discuss challenges, and plan future actions.
The meeting showcased progress across all work packages, including advancements in ship lifecycle modeling, material passport framework, and initial discussions on pilot test cases for steel and composite hulls. Significant efforts were made to address non-operational environmental impacts, with strategies focused on recycling shipbuilding materials and introducing low-emission technologies. Additionally, the ESY Platform’s dashboard prototype demonstrated potential to revolutionize how shipyards monitor and optimize their environmental performance.
Several challenges were discussed, including limited data availability for certain shipyard processes, complexities in standardizing methodologies across diverse practices, and delays in procuring advanced monitoring equipment.

A roadmap with detailed next steps for 2025 has been set up, focusing on addressing these challenges, aiming to advance sustainability in shipyard operations, promote circular economy principles and develop innovative visualization tools for shipyards. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and upcoming deliverables.
