On 6 February 2026, the EcoShipYard project was presented at the Shipbuilding & Ship Management 4.0 – 2026 event.
The presentation followed four main pillars: first, an overview of EcoShipYard, including the consortium, scope and objectives; second, the framework and digital platform, addressing both ship and shipyard perspectives and the tools integrated within the EcoShipYard system; third, performance and circularity aspects, with emphasis on the SEPI index, material and lifecycle passports, and their policy relevance; and finally, the project’s continuity beyond its lifetime through the Living Lab concept and long-term collaboration strategy.
The key messages underlined the importance of boosting EU maritime competitiveness through innovation, advancing circularity to strengthen material resilience, aligning regulation with industry practice, and supporting companies in their green and circular transition while safeguarding maritime skills in Europe. Looking beyond the project duration, the EcoShipYard Living Lab was presented as a mechanism for sustained collaboration among shipyards, technology providers and researchers, enabling continued testing, validation and evolution of the ESY tools, as well as knowledge exchange, training activities and future joint initiatives.
ESY is here to measure, improve, and future-proof shipyard sustainability.
We sincerely thank our partners at NTUA for their active participation and valuable contribution to the EcoShipYard project and to this event.
